Yes. Our chickens are housed in an insulated coop with an automatic chicken door that opens each morning when the sun rises and closes after the chickens put themselves to bed each night. They have 12 acres of space to roam as they please. During the winter months when it is too cold for them to be outside the automatic door is locked shut to prevent frostbite and other harm to our flock. Even through winter our chickens are able to venture outdoors so long as the weather permits.
Egg density will depend on the age of the hen and the amount of calcium in her diet. Older hens lay larger eggs that may even have wrinkly shells due to her advanced age. Our flock is provided with a feeder with crushed calcium so they always have enough calcium in their diet.
A dark colored yolk is a telltale sign of an egg that is nutrient rich. Our chickens are fed organic feed produced by a local Albertan farmer with added crushed flax seed. We supplement our chickens with vitamin water and a feeder filled with crushed calcium. As such our hens produce vitamin rich, omega 3 eggs which typically have a darker colored yolk.
Absolutely! Blood spots are caused by a tiny rupture in a blood vessel while the hen is creating the egg. You can simply scrape the spot off if you’d prefer.
We delight in providing our customers with different colored egg shells as we feel it adds pizazz to your morning meal. Egg shell color is breed dependent and does not affect the taste or nutrition of the egg. So open your carton and have fun, it’s a different experience with each dozen!!
Our eggs are collected, packaged and delivered within a few days of being collected. Eggs sold in supermarkets can be up to 2 months old by the time you buy them.
Because our eggs are fresh, they can last up to 3 months in the fridge.
We strive to serve a variety of eggs in every carton. We have older hens that lay larger eggs, or differing breeds that lay small, medium, large and jumbo eggs. A dozen of our eggs weighs between 700 and above 800 grams; that means you’re getting the value of a dozen of extra large to jumbo sized eggs in each dozen!!
We are excited to tell you that we will soon be expanding to bringing you the best in pork, and beef products, as well as delicious honey! Stay posted for when these tasty offers will be provided.
They are fed organic feed, produced by a local Albertan farmer with added split flax seed to add extra Omega 3 to their diet. They also have access to crushed calcium in a separate feeder so they can eat as much calcium as they require at any given time. Their water is also supplemented with poultry vitamins to ensure they are as healthy as can be. We take great pride in feeding our flock with the best, most nutrient dense feed.
